PAM REED ULTRA MARATHONER Ultramarathoner Pam Reed, of Tucson, Arizona, has twice won Badwater, the most difficult competition in endurance sports. Badwater is a beast. The 135-mile, non-stop race rises over 8000 feet from Death Valley, the lowest point in the US, to Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the lower forty-eight. Temperatures during the race can reach 120°F or more. Only 90 or so athletes in the world are capable of taking on the challenge.
